Following the MHRA’s approval of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine in the UK, the NHS and other healthcare organisations must start preparations to safely store these highly important medical assets.
With 800,000 vaccines expected to arrive in the UK within the coming days, organisations must act quickly to avoid any logistical challenges.
As we detailed in our previous blog, distributing the Pfizer vaccine already poses one of the most complex cold chain logistics projects we have ever seen, as it must be stored at -70c.
How can Contronics help?
On Friday 27th November, we received a short-notice request from a new NHS Trust client for UKAS accredited, ISO 17025 standard temperature mapping of a -80c freezer.
This was an urgent request as the freezer will be used to store COVID-19 vaccines.
On Wednesday 2nd December, our team had successfully set up the necessary mapping equipment at the client’s site.
Mapping was complete by Friday 4th December and the report finalised and with the client on Monday 7th December.
In just 5 working days of receiving the short notice request, we successfully set up, measured, and finalised the mapping report to ISO 17025 standard.
Our client is now prepared to safely store COVID-19 vaccinations.
If your organisation is preparing to take delivery of Pfizer’s vaccine and requires UKAS accredited, ISO 17025 standard temperature mapping, please contact our team today who will be happy to assist further.
