Position
I joined Contronics as Operations Manager in March 2003 and subsequently became General Manager in October 2018. As General Manager, I am responsible for leading the business to achieve our strategic objectives and goals as well as overseeing the day-to-day operations and P & L. I most enjoy the variation that comes with my role and feel a huge sense of job satisfaction and pride from the small but essential part we play in supporting our customers in both the Healthcare and Life Science sectors.
Where are you based?
I’m based in Cheshire and have always lived in the Northwest. It’s the perfect location, close to Chester, Manchester, and Liverpool, but equally near to beautiful open countryside. Just down the road is Jodrell Bank Observatory, home to the Grade I listed Lovell Telescope, an icon of science and engineering, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and following my local football team, Macclesfield FC both home and away. Staying active is important to me, so I regularly run, take part in HIIT classes, and have joined a local trail running group, which lets me combine fitness with my love of the countryside. A lifelong interest of mine is aviation. Long before “AvGeek” became a popular term, I was fascinated by aircraft. That passion has taken me around the world, to destinations including China, Japan, and the USA.
Tell us an interesting fact about you…
I once appeared on Cheggers Plays Pop, the BBC’s high-energy children’s game show filmed in Manchester. It was a whirlwind of inflatable games, pop music, and school team challenges, all led by the irrepressible late Keith Chegwin. I still remember the excitement of being in the studio: bright lights, booming chart hits, and the surreal joy of bouncing around on giant inflatables with Cheggers himself diving in. It was chaotic, hilarious, and unforgettable, a true slice of classic British television.
