Position

I joined Contronics as Operations Manager in March 2003 and subsequently became General Manager in October 2018. As General Manager, I am responsible for leading the business to achieve our strategic objectives and goals as well as overseeing the day-to-day operations and P & L. I most enjoy the variation that comes with my role and feel a huge sense of job satisfaction and pride from the small but essential part we play in supporting our customers in both the Healthcare and Life Science sectors.

Where are you based?

Cheshire, I’ve always lived in the Northwest. It’s an ideal location as it’s close to places such as Chester, Manchester, and Liverpool and equally close to beautiful roaming countryside. I’m just down the road from Jodrell Bank Observatory, which includes the Grade I listed Lovell Telescope – an icon for science and engineering and awarded UNESCO World Heritage Site status.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

In addition to spending time with my family, I enjoy following my local football team, regularly watching them play home and away games. I try to keep active and enjoy running and more recently I have been able to combine my appreciation of the surrounding countryside and running, having joined a local trail running group. My long-lasting interest however is in aviation. Much to the embarrassment of my wife, I have been an AvGeek long before YouTube made it popular and my passion for aviation has led me to visit some far-flung destinations such as China, Japan and the USA.

Tell us an interesting fact about you…

My blood group is with Ro subtype which is very rare in the population. Only 2% of regular donors have the Ro subtype. This gives me added encouragement and motivates me to regularly donate blood, knowing some people rely on donations of the Ro subtype.
